Can a cold or flu virus live and multiply in ordinary tap water or does it need bodily fluids to live?

Being that swine flu is out there now it just occured to me that if a water could be contaminated, i know that most viruses and bacteria need liquid to survive but specifically what kind of liquidscan create favorable conditions for them?
