Can someone briefly explain to me what all this tamil Tigers business in Sri Lanka is about?

Well the truth is during the British rule in India and Sri lanka they had a lot of Tamilians - an ethnic group belonging to the southern part of India work for the tea estates in the northern ring of Sri lanka. The brits left with Sinhalese forming a government of their own and with power comes a lot pf politics and with the tamil population undermined by the then government, it gave rise to protagonists like Prabhakaran to start the ltte movement which first focused on giving the tamils their identity in the land belonging to the lankans. Then the cause took a violent turn and with the killings of innocent civilians they became a terrorist organisation. Its not like the Pakistanis wanting Kashmir from India because it is a muslim state, it was fight for their identity as Sri lankan born citizens and their rights to live an equal life. The cause was right but the movement was wrong.
